Why are Boost the Roost great for my children?

DHA Omega-3 helps brain development in children; especially important for children in the womb and up to the age of 2. As major infant brain growth occurs during pregnancy and throughout the first two years of life. During these times, infants have the greatest need for DHA Omega 3.

DHA Omega 3 also helps eye and nerve development, visual health and function and eye health.

Selenium has many benefits but the key one for children is that it can boost the immune system – especially important in growing children.

Why are Boost the Roost great for the elderly?

DHA Omega 3 contributes to brain health & function, in particular cognitive function in the elderly. Which in turn can help slow the early onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

It can also contribute to the cardiovascular system: maintenance and promotion of heart health and healthy circulation.

DHA and EPA fatty acids play a very important part in carbohydrate metabolism and insulin sensitivity. Long term maintenance of normal blood glucose concentrations. A person needs to keep blood sugar levels within a safe range to reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease.

Selenium for the elderly too, not only does it boost your immune system, it strengthens hair follicles, nails and boosts the collagen in your skin.

Why is Boost the Roost good for the pancreas?

Ultimately, we were drawn to selenium as it contributes to antioxidant activity; i.e cell wall protection – especially important for the pancreas that sits in the middle of the organs.

DHA Omega 3 contributes to the long-term maintenance of normal blood glucose concentrations; again important for the pancreas that produces the insulin in our bodies.

Whilst research is still taking place, we first looked at adding selenium to the hen’s diet after reading a study from Liverpool University linking selenium with the protection of the cells around the pancreas.

Selenium is a natural antioxidant defence that can help prevent cellular damage from free radicals. Selenium is a trace mineral that naturally occurs in volcanic soil. Due to major selenium soil deficiency in Europe, our daily selenium intake is low.
