  • Serves:


  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Roll out the shortcrust pastry and use it to line a 9-inch tart tin. Trim any excess pastry and prick the base with a fork.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, caster sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Heat the milk in a saucepan until hot but not boiling. Gradually pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  5. Pour the custard mixture into the prepared tart tin. Sprinkle the top with freshly grated nutmeg.
  6. Place the tin on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the custard is set and golden on top.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow the custard tart to cool completely before serving.
