At St. Ewe Free Range Eggs, we are beyond egg-cited to announce a double win at this year’s Great Taste Awards! The prestigious competition, known for celebrating excellence in the food industry, has once again recognised our commitment to quality and taste. Our Rich Yolk Eggs have secured another victory following their win in 2022, —and our beloved Original Eggs, affectionately known as ‘the eggs in the blue box’ have earnt an incredible 2 stars.
A Gold Star for Rich Yolk
The Great Taste Award is a testament to the dedication and passion that goes into crafting our Rich Yolk Winning a gold star for our golden yolks for the second year in a row is such an honour, and only made possible by our team, farmers, and everyone who plays a part in producing these award-winning eggs – especially our hens!
Our Rich Yolk have always stood out with their vibrant deep-orange colour and egg-ceptional rich flavour. Our commitment to quality and welfare has made them a favourite among our loyal customers, and we are grateful for their support.
Here’s what the judges had to say about our Rich Yolk eggs –
“The intensely coloured yolk gives this visual appeal, and the flavour is clean and has richness and interest.”
“These are beautifully presented poached eggs with thick, rich, orange yolks. The texture of the whites was firm and not watery. The flavour captured the image of a good farmhouse egg.”
2-Star Award for our Originals
This year’s awards brought another celebration as our Original range, available in both Medium & Large, earnt the ‘Outstanding’ 2-star award. The ‘eggs in the blue box’, loved by many, have always been a cornerstone of our commitment to excellence. We are thrilled to see them receive the recognition they truly deserve.
Here’s what the judges had to say about our Originals –
“We adore the rich golden orange centre of your free-range eggs, the whites are clear and firm, and they envelop the golden yolks perfectly. The mouthfeel of the yolks is silky smooth and coats the palate well. The flavour is rich and decadent, with a lingering sense of fresh free-range eggs from happy hens.”
“This was a stunning-looking egg with the most wonderful vibrant colour. This is how an egg should taste – the rich, clean flavour of the yolk and the white complementing it – this tasty egg has obviously come from a happy well-looked-after hen.”
