With the 2023 award season fast approaching, we thought it would be nice to reflect on 2022 and all the incredible awards our little business achieved last year. As always this has been a team-wide effort. From the team based at Egg HQ, our Producers, and our gorgeous girls working hard to deliver on the values, quality, and deliciousness the St. Ewe brand is famed for.
Farmer’s Weekly Poultry Farmer of the Year
One of St Ewe’s proudest achievements of 2022 was winning the highly coveted Farmers Weekly Poultry Farmer of the Year award.
Aimee Mahony, Chief Poultry adviser at NFU was one of the judges on the panel and remarked, “I was impressed by the enthusiasm of everyone who works at St Ewe. Their focus and investment in innovation is contributing to a thriving business, while strong branding and family values are at the forefront of everything they do.”
Richard & Christine Tonks (Founding Directors) commented, “We have been receiving the Farmers Weekly magazine for nearly 50 years now, so this award really means an awful lot to us. It recognises years of work and efforts all around. The teamwork that has got us there is brilliant, this is a team award as we all are one big family here. Well done and thank you to everyone involved, we couldn’t have done it without you!”
Egg and Poultry Egg Packer of the Year
We are also incredibly proud to say that our little family business scooped the Egg and Poultry Egg Packer of the Year Award!
When receiving the award, Bex Tonks (Farmer & CEO) thanked her team for their loyalty, hard work, and dedication. “St Ewe’s success is down to not only the team at home but the wider members of the St Ewe family – the producers, suppliers, customers, and consumers without which they wouldn’t be in the position they are today.”
Great British Food Awards
On to the foodie awards! After all, this is what our eggs are all about!
We were thrilled to hear that our Rich Yolk eggs achieved gold at The Great British Food Awards in the Home Baking category. This was an enormous achievement for us having won an award for our scrummy Super Eggs in the previous year, in the Healthy Boost category.
Rich Yolk – “The yolks are such a gorgeous golden colour!”
Great Taste 2022
In 2022, we won not only one but two Great Taste Awards!
Rich Yolk and Super Eggs were both awarded a Great Taste Gold Star by the Guild of Fine Foods. Here’s a snippet of what the judges had to say:
Super Eggs – “Beautifully vibrant yolk to these eggs, clearly happy chickens! There is a lovely natural flavour, a real grassiness coming through. Rich, light and fresh. Delicious! Clever chickens!”
Rich Yolk – “Wonderful deep orange yolk, exceptional in its colour. Very nice egg, with good character – would make a great ingredient, giving a rich colour and flavour to any dish.”
Taste of the West 2022
Last but by no means least, our final foodie award.
St Ewe Free Range Original eggs were awarded Taste of the West Gold for 2022!
Addington Fund Cornwall Business Award
St Ewe Free Range Eggs were proudly crowned ‘The Best Farm Processor’ at The Addington Fund Cornwall Farm Business Awards.
The awards are an extraordinary celebration of British farming, and we were absolutely honoured to have been awarded.
